Heather Rose PhD, JD ,Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson Health
Heather Rose PhD, JD is the Vice President of Technology Licensing and Start-Ups for Thomas Jefferson University and Thomas Jefferson Health. In her role at Jefferson Dr. Rose collaborates with researchers and physicians to lead projects to value inflection points, file patent applications for novel innovations, assist with start-up company formation, and manage existing relationships with corporate sponsors and licensees. Prior to joining Jefferson in 2017, Dr. Rose worked in the Drexel University Office of Technology Commercialization where she focused on commercializing inventions in the life science disciplines.
Dr. Rose has collaborated with researchers, physicians, and attorneys to file over 400 patent applications and negotiated over 400 agreements, including 150+ license, sponsored research, option, and equity agreements with established and start-up companies. She currently manages a portfolio of 500+ active and issued patents and oversees the university’s interests in 60+ start-up companies which have collectively raised over 600 million dollars.
In addition to a JD with a concentration in intellectual property law obtained at the Drexel University School of Law, Dr. Rose also holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where she studied safety and predictability in delivering therapeutic gene doses for gene therapy applications. Dr. Rose is a member of the PA, NJ, and United States Patent Bars
Mitch Vidovich, Independence Blue Cross
Mitch Vidovich serves as a critical link between policymakers as well as civic and business leaders for the region’s largest health insurer and one of the largest Blues in the nation.
As the vice president of government affairs for Independence Blue Cross, Vidovich advances the company’s public policy priorities at the federal and local level while helping to shape the company’s strategy and operational response to emerging legislative and regulatory changes. He successfully accomplishes this by leveraging his years of experience working on Capitol Hill and on national political campaigns– where he built deep relationships across the political spectrum.
He leads Independence’s award-winning political action committee, one of the largest in the state, which supports candidates from both parties who share the company’s vision for health care. He also plays a key role in correlating public policy into actionable programs on the ground by forging partnerships between community stakeholders and the $140 million Independence Blue Cross Foundation.
In addition to his work at Independence, he serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Delaware County Child Advocacy Center, a dedicated, safe space where victims of abuse can receive support and therapy. Vidovich is also a member of the advisory board for SRI Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Philadelphia.
He is a graduate of Susquehanna University and earned his MBA from Villanova University.
Emma Kemble, McKinsey & Company
Emma is a leader in McKinsey’s Value & Access service line in the U.S. and co-leads the firm’s research on the IRA. She primarily serves market access and brand leaders on a range of commercial and managed care topics across the product lifecycle, as well as leaders across the healthcare value chain.
